I love french plaits, fish plaits and all forms of braiding however I have some kind of “mind block” when it comes down to achieving a neat french plait. I have tried, tried and tried again to create a good french braid but it always looks a bit messy, however I find fish (also known as Egyptian) plait much easier to put together.
