Julie Newmar, cult actress. Featuring an absolutely exceptional beauty from all points of view, Julie Newmar began her career as a dancer in the 50s, always in pretty exotic roles. Alternating roles between film and stage, she even earned a Tony Award.
However, despite a breathtakingly beautiful body and face which would have enabled her to outperform without any problem the greatest beauties of the silver screen, Newmar never became a superstar, her popularity came mainly from her appearances in television where she acted with great panache. Her range of seductive femme fatale with a touch of derision added to her dazzling physical attributes. Her most famous character remains the parodic Batman’s Catwoman in the 60s, when her black suit, skin tight and all sparkles made a big impression on fans for several decades. The costume has even a place as a museum piece permanently exposed in the Smithsonian Institute.
Now 80 years old, Newmar is not forgotten and in 1995, she had the rare privilege of seeing her name mentioned directly in the title of a movie “To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar”
Her body was so sculptural she looked just incredible. With blonde cascading locks, curly red hair or a dark short bobbed cut hair in cat woman she was always dazzling and sexy.
As bunny girl, bikini girl or as cool cat woman she was always a stunner. I love the suggestively placed gold belt, quite daring for the 60’s !
Her makeup had little flufly lined tuffs on her extremely defined and shaped eyebrows, pouty nude lips and big big smoky eyes, with long cat flick eyeliner ( naturally ), topped up with lashing of false eyelashes.
Julie Newmar was a very cool cat indeed, awesome in beauty, cultish in her career and I know she will inspires the makeup artist, hairdresser and stylist in you with her cool looks, with or without the cute little kitty ears…
